It’s Advanced Engineering Time – Let’s Get a Meet-Up in Motion!

The autumn trade show season is in full swing. This month, the Sugatsune UK team has already been up to Doncaster to take part in the Fit-Out Construction Design event.

We enjoyed a productive and fun couple of days at Doncaster’s famous race course, enjoying a format that’s a little different from the usual industry get-togethers. As well as exhibiting with a stand, it was great to take part in a series of pre-arranged sit-downs with industry professionals interested in what we do. It lends itself to having more in-depth conversations than the usual on-the-fly chats typical of a busy trade show floor!

Speaking of which, it’s almost time for one of our favourite events of the year. That’s right, it’s Advanced Engineering time again, as the UK’s biggest and best engineering and manufacturing trade show rolls back into the Birmingham NEC on 29th and 30th October. Which means time is running out for you to register for your complimentary ticket and come to see the Sugatsune team!

Poetry in Motion

As always, we’re excited about the opportunity to showcase highlights from our industrial components range, including giving visitors the chance to learn more about Motion Design Tech (MDT) – our groundbreaking approach to improving the operability of equipment and devices through advanced motion engineering.

From soft close to easy open, free stop to click stop, and complex multi-part and multi-directional motion, MDT covers a broad range of components that make doors, lids, drawers and slides function more safely and efficiently in industrial environments. But we always think, it’s an idea better demonstrated than explained. That is why we’ll have our ‘MDT cart’ with us at the NEC, a demo unit fitted with hinges, stops, slides and stays showcasing the full range of MDT capabilities. Who doesn’t love having a play with things that move in cool ways?

Let X be Your Guide

We’ll also be showcasing a couple of new additions to our linear guides range. One is the MLGX32, which is designed to provide stable motion when mounted vertically and horizontally, whilst loaded in any orientation.

The idea is to provide complete flexibility for machinery manufacturers – rather than having to think about different guides in different planes the MLGX32 provides a single solution. It does that thanks to a clever piece of engineering we’ve called the ‘Dual-X’. This comprises a mounting plate with eight rollers arranged in an X-shape in two pairs of four. What this does is distribute loads evenly, however they are mounted, which provides a smooth, stable and rattle-free motion in whichever plane the guide is mounted.

The MLGX32 is suitable for medium loads up to 300N. The Dual-X roller setup has the added advantage of avoiding ‘ball creep’ due to the absence of ball bearings. This results in smoother motion and allows for these to be used in conjunction with motor drive systems.

Our other new linear guide, the MRG30, features a guide block with monomer cast nylon resin rollers. Resin rollers have the dual advantage of near-silent operation compared to metal rollers and ball bearings, and also greater durability. The MRG30 has passed 500,000 tests of 100mm round trips at speeds of 200mm/sec – a total distance of 100km.

If you would like to connect with us at Advanced Engineering, come say hi at stand M165. we’d be delighted to see old faces and new. See you in Birmingham!
