Digital invoice as standard
Here’s an important announcement for all our customers. As part of our on-going efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, Sugatsune Kogyo UK will switch to digital invoicing on the 1st October 2021.
Like many companies, we view ‘going paperless’ on billing as an important step towards reducing waste and adopting more sustainable, eco-friendly practices across our business.
Based on feedback from many customers, we feel now is the right time to take this step. Some of the figures on the environmental impact of paper-based billing are truly eye opening.
Worldwide, the energy consumption that goes into making, printing and sending paper invoices is equivalent to 20 million households per year, while the paper used accounts for a staggering 10% of all trees cut down.
In most cases, all that paper eventually just ends up in the shredder.
On the flipside, technology has now reached the point where digital invoicing is better than paper billing anyway. It is faster, more convenient, more secure and makes organisation and access to records simultaneously more straightforward and flexible.
For all of these reasons, we will be stopping sending out paper invoices by post with immediate effect, and switching to a digital platform that sends invoices via email instead. If you have always received invoices from us by post and we don’t have your email details, we will be in touch.
If you pay by card and require a card receipt for your payment, please contact us and we will send a scanned copy via email.
If you have a particular need for a paper copy of your invoice from us, we will still send these out by request only.
With the new digital system, as soon as we generate an invoice for goods you purchase from us, your accounts team will receive it instantly. We hope this will speed up and simplify the payment process for all of our customers, while removing the risk of paperwork going missing in the post, or even falling into the wrong hands. Plus, you will no longer have to worry about filing and storing sheets.
