VAN 01

We love talking about our products here at Sugatsune. The innovative designs, the precision engineering, the stylish aesthetics are all a source of great pride.

But if there’s one thing we love more than talking about them, it’s showing them off. Because let’s be honest. We can talk all day about hinges and stays and soft-close motion (and we happily will, if you let us). But nothing beats seeing how our components work in person, or better yet, getting your hands on them to have a play with yourself.

We’re delighted to announce that opportunities to get up close and personal with Sugatsune products have just got a lot easier with the launch of our latest bright idea – the Sugatsune Industrial Showroom Van!

Loaded with components from our Industrial Hardware catalogue, the van will tour up and down the country bringing hands-on product demonstrations directly to your door. All you need to do is book an appointment on a suitable date with our sales team.

Motion Design You Need to See

The showroom van will mostly be fitted with Motion Design Tech (MDT) products. A pivotal part of our industrial range, MDT applies advanced motion control techniques to components such as hinges, stays and slides, helping to improve the operability and safety of equipment and devices in work environments. MDT covers:

● Free stop: Holds flaps, lids and covers open at any angle.
● Soft motion: Slows down and controls the opening and closing speed of hinged closure.
● Assist motion: Helps to open heavy lids and doors.
● Detent motion: Holds flaps, lids and covers open at a fixed angle.
● Multi-linear motion: Provides controlled, seamless movement for guides when loads come from multiple directions.
● Unique motion: Expands the range of opening and closing paths for doors.

Our sales team has always done a sterling job explaining the ins and outs of MDT products to prospective customers – how they work, what they are for, the benefits of using them and so on. They can even carry samples around to meetings so people can at least see and handle them. But if they are not properly mounted in true-to-life scenarios, it’s very difficult to get the full effect. Torque hinges, for example, are near impossible to move by hand. They need the leverage created by being attached to a lid or door to function.

The showroom van solves that. The van is kitted out with cabinets, doors, lids, flaps, covers, mounts, guides – all the kind of things that MDT products are used for in actual workplaces. MDT products fitted include torque hinges, one-way torque hinges, lift assist hinges, soft down stays, torque stays and lift assist stays, plus a whole variety of other industrial components.

The idea is to create a hands-on experience where, instead of relying on our sales staff describing what the components can do, you can see them in action and try them out for yourself. As well as the permanently installed samples, the van can also be used to transport other working units on request.
